Author of the book “No More Mr. Nice Guy”, Dr. Robert Glover, defines Attachments as those things men habitually use to win approval. The behaviours, accessories, personas etc. that men use to compensate for their sense of shame or inadequacy.
This is a great perspective, as it separates our projected values from our inherent selfhood.

Are we our job? Our car? Our relationship? Our hobbies? Our physique?
So how do we know just who we are? Whatever it is, our true self dwells within. What we do, know, own or accomplish is, many times, a result of who we think we ought to be.
Having the courage to look and listen deeply to our own being is the only way to encounter our own point of view.
